Cardano Sidechains
Sidechains are Web3 platforms that expand the functionality of layer-1 blockchains, in this case Cardano. Tasked with exploring ways to visually represent this emerging product class, I created several families of assets examining the topic from different angles.

This project serves as an important example of recent work because it demonstrates my ability to think about visual strategy in multiple ways. My creative approach ranged from adaptation of the existing (and quite superb) Cardano identity, to taking a generative approach (coded via Processing) to artwork discovery.

The image above was my first result in creating a code-driven asset. Given that we had chosen the branching shape of a tree as a visual metaphor for sidechains, the idea was to generate a pattern echoing the shape of cherry blossom petals.
The images below were also generative, and in this case focused more directly on the branching shape itself. This code base was generated in response to create something capable of a wider range of aesthetic output and a more aggressive aesthetic.

Related Project
During the course of developing the Sidechains identity I was also asked to create a series of infographic-style social posts that would show different aspects of the security associated with the EVM sidechain. For these I went with the existing Cardano identity, and focused on expressing the crux of the concept in each slide's text in a clean, streamlined graphic.
